Kidney issues and organ damage are not uncommon for adults living with sickle cell anemia due to reduced blood flow. Chronic kidney disease can lead to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and is a common cause of death for people with SCD. Tahirah Austin-Muhammad is a mother, a fighter, and a striver who currently has 7% kidney function due to complications that occurred during the birth of her daughter. In the face of this reality she has alot of life to live!
Thank you #BeamTherapeutics for sharing her story and highlighting some of her family, support system, and their perspectives. She's not in this alone. #sicklecellstrong.
By sharing this video you'll help Tahirah get closer to a kidney transplant and by making a donation you’ll support many others in similar situations.
